Christ Ahnsahnghong – Guilty by Association
Christ Ahnsahnghong and the fallacy of guilt by association
Many of the websites that speak negatively about Christ Ahnsahnghong and the World Mission Society Church of God use the same logic, that logic is “guilty by association.” Guilt by association is defined as an inductive informal fallacy, which is also known as a hasty generalization. Pretty much, if it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, it’s a duck, and anything that comes from that same country, is also a duck! This fallacy is made as an appeal to emotion and is not based on facts.
Some examples of guilt by association are as follows:
- Peter is a criminal. Peter is from California. Therefore, all the people from California are criminals.
- Tom, John, Chris, and Will are all friends of Ray, and they are all corrupt politicians. Tammy is a friend of Ray. Therefore, Tammy is a corrupt politician.
2,000 years ago Jesus was a victim of this fallacy. When Jesus was crucified, He was crucified between two criminals. Although Jesus Himself was not a criminal, I am sure that those who did not know Jesus Christ automatically judged Him and thought of Him as being a criminal as a result of association.
This is the same thing people try to do with the World Mission Society Church of God and Christ Ahnsahnghong. They speak about the Unification Church and Sun Myung Moon, then they say that the World Mission Society Church of God and Christ Ahnsahnghong must be the same since it started in South Korea.
In reality, there are absolutely no similarities in the teachings of the World Mission Society Church of God and the Unification Church. The Unification Church teaches principles that do not come from the Bible, as per their official website:
“Sun Myung Moon studied the Bible and many other religious teachings in order to unravel these mysteries of life and human history.”
The World Mission Society Church of God and the teachings of Christ Ahnsahnghong come strictly from the Bible and nothing else. The Unification Church keeps Sunday service, Christmas and all other teachings that do not come from the Bible. The World Mission Society Church of God keeps the Passover and the Sabbath of the New Covenant just as Jesus taught 2,000 years ago.
So instead of judging by standards of association with other religious groups, why don’t you try to understand Christ like the disciples did 2,000 years ago?
How did the disciples recognize Jesus 2,000 years ago?
John 4:41-42 – “And because of his words many more became believers. They said to the woman, ‘We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the savior of the world.’”
2,000 years ago, the first thing people considered was His teachings. It was because of His teachings that the people believed He was the savior of the world. What was the second thing they considered?
John 1:44-45 – “Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. Philip found Nathanael and told him, ‘We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote – Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.’”
The second thing the disciples considered was how Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies of the Old Testament. Then it was because of His teachings and the prophecies He fulfilled that the disciples were able to recognize Jesus Christ as the Savior.
In the same way, it is because of what He taught and the prophecies He fulfilled that I believe Christ Ahnsahnghong is the second coming of Christ – not because of what people say about Him or by how popular He is.
From my research, I can confidently say that there are no similarities between the Unification Church and the World Mission Society Church of God.
If you want to understand about Christ Ahnsahnghong correctly, please come and study the Bible at the World Mission Society Church of God.

Making generalizations is a bad habit of human nature. By breaking this habit we can truly receive the Savior, Second Coming Christ, who is to come in the age of the Holy Spirit. The whole reason people look down on the World Mission Society Church of God and Christ Ahnsahnghong is because of associating it with the rumors on the internet or what many people say, but the only way to truly realize God who came a second time is by His teachings and the prophecies He fulfilled just like Christ 2,000 years ago. It makes perfect sense when we read the scriptures but when we read others opinions there is always contradictions. God’s word is perfect and Christ Ahnsahnghong truly is God Himself who came and taught the New Covenant same as he did when he came the first time in the name of Jesus 2,000 years ago.

I wish people would get the facts before generalizing things. For such an “Intelligent” society many people really make unintelligent remarks because maybe it is too much work, or to inconvenient to actually find out if it is the truth or not. The remarks are unintelligent because they are far from the truth and just made based upon “hasty generalization” and not fact. Why do we believe Christ Ahnsahnghong and Mother? John 6:68-69 They have the words of eternal life. Their teachings, and the prophecies they have fulfilled speak for themselves. However you will never know that if you just associate them with another religious group based upon “guilty by association”. Please come and study for yourself before you associate WMSCOG with another religious group or make any kind of judgement.

The members of the church of God are not just members, but we are a family. It is through the scriptures and the prophecies that He fulfilled that we believe Christ Ahnsahnghong. We received our teachings from God.
In the same way, 2000 years ago Jesus allowed his disciples to recognize him through the scriptures.
Luke 24:27 “And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself”
God teaches us so we understand. We can’t go by the teachings and traditions of man. Closely do your own research on Sunday worship and other holidays taught by the catholic church. They do not come from God.
Please do not neglect a chance at knowing the truth because of “guilt by association”. -
One of the definition of guilty by Association is the following:
Thesaurus Legend: Synonyms Related Words Antonyms
Noun 1. guilt by association – the attribution of guilt (without proof) to individuals because the people they associate with are guilty
guilt, guiltiness – the state of having committed an offenseBased on WordNet 3.0, Farlex clipart collection. © 2003-2012 Princeton University, Farlex Inc
Reflecting upon our judicial system I came to think, I have never heard a judge convict a criminal based on the people that the criminal associated with. Yet the judge makes his decision based on the facts and proofs found against him. Therefore, there is no proof to accuse Christ Ahnsahnghong to be “guilty of association” just because he came from Korea and in Korea there are many false churches. The reason/fact that he came from South Korea is to fulfill the prophecy of Isaiah 46:11 ” From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, A MAN to fulfill my purpose.”
Based on this definition of guilty by association, I understand that people who accuse Christ Ahnsahnghong, or the church for that matter, to be “guilty by association” speak nonsense because it is not based on facts. There is no connection/association between the WMSCOG with false churches. However, the ignorance of the people in knowing and understanding the teachings from the WMSCOG cause them to make false accusations against the WMSCOG without facts and proof. -
Even though South Korea is the prophesied land where second Coming Christ will bring salvation. My faith is not established on South Korea, the reason I believe is because Christ Ahnsahnghong brought us all the truth of the bible and the way to receive Eternal life, which through the teaching of the bible is our Heavenly Mother . Now the unification church has nothing in common with the Church that Christ Ahnsahnghong established.

Excellent article and I love the examples. As a member of the WMSCOG I love to tell people about the Church and I enjoy inviting them as well. When I first began to attend, I experienced this type of generalization first hand. I would always run into people who associated the other churches in Korea with our church. However, I couldn’t explain why like this article did. Growing up I never liked generalizations because they would stir up tension and make people feel uncomfortable. When it comes to the WMSCOG I hope that people come and experience the reality of whats inside the doors before judging from the outside. It’s sad to think that people are being influenced by the hasty judgement of others and close their minds without even walking through the doors of the church. All that I can say is that WMSCOG really does follow the bible and that if anyone wants to they can see it for themselves. Please do not be quick to assume or accept judgements from others without seeing for yourself.

After reading this article, it just goes to show how people make judgements not necessarily on facts but on what people say. For an example, if you purchase a product made from China and it breaks, then the assumption is made that all products from China are cheap and break easily. However, someone might have purchased a product from China that is very well made and lasts. So we can see what people say is not necessarily true for everything. This even happened to Apostle Paul 2,000 years ago. What did the people say about him?
Acts 24:5
“We have found this man to be a troublemaker, stirring up riots among the Jews all over the world. He is a ringleader of the Nazarene sect (Acts 24:5 NIV)
Christians admire Apostle Paul and even want to follow his example and resemble his faith. However, at the time he lived was he admired and exalted? Not at all. They called him the ringleader of the Nazarene sect. Meaning he was the head of the cult of Jesus Christ. Then can we say he is guilty because he has association with Jesus Christ since he follows Christ examples? According to the people’s opinions he is guilty. But would the Christians of this time dare to call Jesus and his apostles a cult? Absolutely not, if anything they say “Amen.” Given this example, if the apostles of 2,000 years ago went through this same situation, should it occur in the Holy Spirit Age? Yes it should. The apostles were blessed because they were able to recognize Christ who was prophesied to come. Peter recognized Jesus despite what others said.Mt 16:13-17
When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. (Matthew 16:13-17 NIV)Despite what others thought about Christ, Peter recognized Jesus as the Savior. Can we say he was blessed? Peter was the one who received the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven so I can say he was very blessed. How did Peter recognize that Jesus is God? God revealed it to him clearly. It wasn’t by Peter’s will, it was by God’s will. Then in the Holy Spirit Age how can God let us recognize him? Only when we study the scriptures God will reveal it plainly to us.
Jer 31: 31
“The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. (Jeremiah 31:31 NIV)According to this verse God Himself will bring the New Covenant and what will this do for us?
Jer 31: 34
No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the Lord. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” (Jeremiah 31:34 NIV)When we recognize the one who brings the New Covenant we will know who God is on this Earth. Then who is the one that brought the New Covenant in the New Testament?
Mt 26:26-28
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. (Matthew 26:26-28 NIV)Jesus is the one that brought the New Covenant Passover, but God is the only one that can bring this. Therefore, Jesus is God that was prophesied to come in the flesh. But, how to recognize God in the flesh? Through the New Covenant Passover. The one that brought Passover to the earth was Christ Ahnsahnghong and this is why he is God Almighty. This can only be done by God. Then if you really want to know more about him, come and see through the prophecies that he fulfilled according to the scriptures. Come and visit WMSCOG and put all your questions to rest.

Hello Kathy.
I am just trying to understand. All that you have written is about Jesus and not about Ahnsahnghong. Jesus brought the new covenant.
Then you say, “The one that brought Passover to the earth was Christ Ahnsahnghong and this is why he is God Almighty.”
How is that? The passover was given by Yahweh to the Israelites through Moses to save them from slavery in Egypt. So you can say Yahweh or Moses brought the Passover. Exodus chapter 12 tells us that only the circumcised Israelites can celebrate the passover.

In a society that bases all information simply on assumptions we should first understand the definition of the word:
Assume: to take for granted or without proof.
Based on that definition we know that all information must be solidified through clear evidence. Through this article and much more scripture we can understand that this is not the first time this prophecy is being fulfilled. For there is nothing new under the sun.
When Christ came the first time the world he created and those he came to save did not recognize him (jn 1:9-13) They did not recognize him because they already had their own preconceived notion about how their God would come. They failed to realize the prophecy and true divinity that was veiled in the flesh. He also let us know that when the spirit of truth comes not only would he remind of of everything Jesus had taught, and had been through, but walk the same path once again not being accepted by the world (jn 14:15-17)It’s amazing how prophecy will continually be fulfilled so that we are without excuse. Please come and understand. Hear the word of God through the Bible. For those who are from God will listen to his word and know that Christ Ahnsahnghong and Jerusalem Mother are the Spirit and the Bride. (We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood. Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:6, 7 NIV)
Let us break the chain of basing our lives on mere opinions of man that perish like the flowers out of season, but hold on to what is eternal.

As Christians, we say that we believe in Jesus Christ, so we must learn the truths and laws of Christ. For Jesus came to seek and save the lost and give us the forgiveness of sins. But we must keep in mind that Jesus Christ, God Almighty said he would come a second time to bring salvation to those who were waiting for him. Aren’t we waiting for, Christ, Our Savior? If we understand that the Bible is a book of prophecy, we will see Jesus Christ’s words fulfilled through Christ Ahnsahnghong, the Second Coming Christ, God Almighty. Jesus proclaimed that he would come again in the flesh, as a man, with a new name, bringing salvation, the Passover. If we do not understand the first coming of Christ how can we understand his second coming? We must not be deceived! The TRUE Second Coming Christ will do EXACTLY as Jesus Christ did 2,000 years ago. Following the laws and regulations of the New Covenant, Passover, will lead us to salvation. God says that history repeats itself and that there is nothing new under the sun. However, I must make it clear that the WMSCOG is not the Unification Church led by Sun Myung Moon. Although the two could appear “the same” we can clearly see through the teachings of the Church and where their teachings derive from. As people of Christ, we should walk as Christ did through the teachings of the Bible. Here at the WMSCOG, we follow and know the teachings of Christ that leads to salvation. Do not judge based on hearsay. Come to know the difference between Gods Commandments and Man-Made Commandments.

“Jesus proclaimed that he would come again in the flesh, as a man, with a new name, bringing salvation, the Passover.”
Hello Crystal. Can you tell me the scripture verses in which Jesus proclaimed all those things?
You know that it is a sin to add or remove from scripture.-
The word Passover means “Disasters Passover” (Exodus 12:10-13). So we can say that the Passover is salvation.
Hebrews 9:28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Revelation 3:12 …I will also write on them my new name. Then how do we know he will appear a second in the flesh and not in the spirit. In Mathew 28:20 Jesus said he will be with us always. If he is with us always in spirit then there is no first time or second time. Hebrews 9:28 says he will appear a second time which means he will appear just like he appeared the first time which is in the flesh.
-
Passover = salvation is a big stretch.
As far as I know, most Christians, myself included, believe that Jesus will come in the flesh the second time as well.
When Hebrews 9:28 mentions salvation, it means to take to heaven, those who are waiting.
Rev 3:12 – what makes Ahn the new name? Why not Diane? or Dan?-
To be saved through the Passover may seem like a stretch to you, but, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” Luke 18:27
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. Isaiah 55:8
John 6: 32-53, Jesus says that he is the manna (bread from heaven,) which he gives for the life of the world, meaning the salvation of mankind. It is only the Passover bread and wine where he gave us his flesh and blood. So the Passover bread is the manna from heaven.Revelation 2:17 Jesus said he will give us the hidden manna and a new name. The way we can recognize Christs’ new name is to find out who brought the hidden manna (bread from heaven), which is Passover. It is only Ahnsahnghong. So Ahnsahnghong is the new name of Jesus. Can you prove through the bible that Dan or Diane is the new name?
-
It is a stretch to me because that is not from the bible. It is human interpretation.
But you speak of passover so much. Can you please read 1 Cor 11:17-34 and tell me what is the event A Paul is writing about in that passage? Is that what you call the passover? Paul doesn’t use that word. He says the Lord’s Supper.
So what is it that Ahn restored? Even reintroducing the event the passover was something that was done by Herbert Armstrong in 1930, long before Ahn did.
I find the logic hard to understand.
You accept the teachings of the WMSCOG because you believe Ahn is God. You believe Ahn is God because the WMSCOG teaches so. Isn’t that circular logic? -
What feast is the Lords Supper referred to in Luke 22:7 Mark 14:12 and Mathew 26:17?
Would you accept the teaching of Worldwide Church of God that Armstrong established because he brought passover before Ahnsahnghong?
Can you please tell me the correct explanation of John 6:32-53 and Revelation 2:17 without using “circular logic?”
-
Hello Dan. Here are my responses.
What feast is the Lords Supper referred to in Luke 22:7 Mark 14:12 and Mathew 26:17?
The feast they were celebrating was the passover seder meal. It is a meal that is eaten after the passover lamb is slain. The Lord’s Supper is when Jesus uses the occasion of the meal to give them his body and blood. The partaking of the body and blood is never called the passover at any time subsequently. Moreover, it is clear from Luke 24:30, Acts 2:42 and 46 and 1 Cor 11:17-34 that it was something they did every time they met as a church and not just a once a year thing.Would you accept the teaching of Worldwide Church of God that Armstrong established because he brought passover before Ahnsahnghong?
Not at all. Both did their own thing. Armstrong did it first. Can you please tell me the correct explanation of John 6:32-53 and Revelation 2:17 without using “circular logic?”
In Jn 6:32-53, Jesus is offering us the gift of his flesh to eat. It is something that has continued unbroken from the time of His apostles till this day.
In Rev 2:17 the passage starting from verse 12 onwards is encouragement to the Christians at Pergamum. They were being subject to intense persecution and one of their number had been brutally killed. They were slowly getting demotivated and needed encouragement which this passage provides. At the end it promises them the bread from heaven as well as the white stone with a new name on it. The white stone is believed to be a kind of public recognition that athletes returning home victorious from the Olympics used to receive. The new name on it is typically a name that reflects the person’s quality like Abram got the new name of Abraham or Jacob became Israel.
Any circular logic there? -
Is that your own interpretation or did someone teach you that?
Would you insist that your explanations are correct one even if someone showed you another explanation?
Have your explanations ever been taught and accepted as undeniable truth by a church?

When I first read this article, I found it hard to believe that “guilty by association” could be a big issue affecting how people viewed the WMSCOG. However, I was able to realize from my job that this actually is something that I and I think many people unfortunately do on a regular basis in different ways. Let me explain…
Where I work I serve tons of regular customers. You get to know them, they get to know you and it gets to the point where there doesn’t have to be a word spoken and a customer can order and be out the door within a minute or two. At first, this way of business seems to be amazing! But actually it can be very dangerous. From the inside, as an employee, it is fun and easy. But for a new customer it is totally opposite. We have an extensive menu and limitless combinations, modifiers, and names that new customers have no idea what they even are. When I first began to work I was very slow to learn and my customers seemed to know more than I did. As I began to get better and get to know all of my customers unique tastes I began to make some customers victims of “guilty by association”.
Knowing my regular customers and getting into a “groove” at work I just take orders and make drinks expecting everyone to know what they want and how to order it. Not everyone is a regular and many first time customers get caught by themselves during a fast paced time of the day and feel pressured to order correctly in a speedy manner when really they need help with even just cup sizes and drink names. I can only think about how many people I could have kept from feeling this way if I had just taken the time to deal with the new customers in detail.
Remembering this big mistake of mine, I realize how some people probably fall prey to viewing the WMSCOG this way. Because South Korea is the a land of prophecy, so many false religions have appeared there. For the people that live in South Korea and the people that pay attention to it, these religions have been appearing for awhile. Naturally, if another church(the WMSCOG) happens to be among them, they would associate it along with the others.
Making a decision about the WMSCOG by associating the WMSCOG with the Unification Church and other religious organizations that came out of Korea for the sole reason that the WMSCOG also came out of Korea would be the wrong way to base a decision about the WMSCOG.
-
Christ Jesus was considered by the Pharisees to be no better than the tax collectors and prostitutes, why? Because, they are those who Christ associated with, but do Christians view Jesus in that manner, of course not. It is the same with Father and the WMSCOG, if we have an ignorant and narrow mind, we can come to make the same assumptions the Israelites made 2000 years ago. Which led to the crucifixion of Christ and their punishment. With this concept, “guilty by association”, they have to deny Jesus because he associated with “bad” people. Also, once you actually study the prophecies that proved Jesus was Christ, and study the life of Christ Ahnsahnghong, you will come to learn that the only thing He is guilty of is being the 2nd coming Christ. Because Christ Ahnsahnghong fulfilled the prophecies of the Bible, the same as Jesus. The WMSCOG is the true Church Christ Ahnsahnghong established, and to compare it to the unification church is at the highest level of ignorance.
-
I appreciated this article and agree 100%. It’s easy enough to gernaralize people and fit them into fixed ideas & stereo types even though we try to avoid them for our selves. So when it comes to the WMSCOG people sometimes gernaralize any church founded in Korea. Automatically when hearing about another christian church from S. Korea the brain associated WMSCOG with all other christain churches that come from South Korea. It is important to understand that the WMSGOG is different because it came from God as it was prophesied in the Bible and doesnt waver and compromise with mans opnions and thoughts bc salvation can only come from God. This is why it is better to look into the WMSOG and to understand what is really going on instead of trying to look at everything from a skewed and biased view that can cause us to miss out on the most amazing things that have happened during our life.
-
This article only makes sense. How can someone assume that just because WMSCOG began in South Korea like the Unification Church, its false? That’s like saying all people from Germany are Nazis because of their history. If you’ve never met or spoken to someone from Germany, how can you make that assumption? You can’t. In the same way, you can’t assume that WMSCOG and the Unification Church are the same simply because they originated in the same place. Christ Ahnsahnghong came from South Korea based on bible prophecy, not based on human decision. The only way you can know and understand about the prophecies in the bible is if you see and study them for yourself. Those who rightly believe in Christ Ahnsahnghong and Heavenly Mother base their faith on the prophecies in the bible, not on “logic” and assumptions. I hope that reading this article, people open their minds to want to study the bible more and receive salvation.

To conclude that the Church of God is related to the unification church because it was established in Korea is no different than saying that my dad from England is very mean, therefore all dads from England must be mean.
Maybe the person saying such a thing has never even been to England? Maybe they don’t know anything about my dad in reality…they have never met him personally or spoken to him. Perhaps they have never met other dads from England. Considering all of this…it would make no sense for someone to make a generalization about my dad, or about other dads from England. However, the same logic applies to the Church of God.
To the person who knows nothing about the true teachings of the World Mission Society Church of God, has never met with the members, or knows anything about its practices and also has no knowledge even of pagan traditions kept inside a majority of churches today, it would be odd to proclaim that we are like or unlike anything. Without knowledge, statements are completely empty and no lawyer would dare defend his own case using hasty generalizations. The judge would quickly dismiss any case without proper evidence, facts, logic or clarity.
God uses the Bible to defend his case and because the Scriptures testify to the Savior through prophecies, those who are on the side of God will be able to testify to what is true using that evidence. If people want to know something, they seek the facts and figures, but even 2000 years ago the disciples could believe in Christ and know what to do only through the Scriptures and the examples of the Savior who came in the flesh. Looking at anything else will have no weight when the judge arrives.
-
2000 years ago, those who rejected Jesus spread all kinds of rumors that were based on speculation and generalizations rather than on facts. Instead of going to Jesus himself, they distorted his teachings and spread groundless rumors and accusations against him. Many people judged Jesus based on external appearances without looking to the truth in the bible that testified to Jesus being the Messiah. They looked at his level of education (John Ch.7, 14) and the fact that his followers included prostitute’s tax collectors, fisherman, and others were not of social standing at that time (Matthew Ch. 9,10-11). Because they judged on mere appearances and closed their minds to studying with Jesus to understand the truth that he taught, they were not able to receive Christ as their savior. Instead they saw him as a bizarre cult leader who stirred up mobs and riots (John Ch. 8, 47). It is the same today, to those who reject the teachings of Christ Ahnsahnghong, the Church of God appears to be similar to the Unification Church from the outside in that it is a church from South Korea, but the similarities end there. If these people actually came to understand the church’s teachings and study the bible with us, they would not make such generalizations.
