Christ Ahnsahnghong and the fallacy of guilt by association
Many of the websites that speak negatively about Christ Ahnsahnghong and the World Mission Society Church of God use the same logic, that logic is “guilty by association.” Guilt by association is defined as an inductive informal fallacy, which is also known as a hasty generalization. Pretty much, if it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, it’s a duck, and anything that comes from that same country, is also a duck! This fallacy is made as an appeal to emotion and is not based on facts.
Some examples of guilt by association are as follows:
- Peter is a criminal. Peter is from California. Therefore, all the people from California are criminals.
- Tom, John, Chris, and Will are all friends of Ray, and they are all corrupt politicians. Tammy is a friend of Ray. Therefore, Tammy is a corrupt politician.
2,000 years ago Jesus was a victim of this fallacy. When Jesus was crucified, He was crucified between two criminals. Although Jesus Himself was not a criminal, I am sure that those who did not know Jesus Christ automatically judged Him and thought of Him as being a criminal as a result of association.
This is the same thing people try to do with the World Mission Society Church of God and Christ Ahnsahnghong. They speak about the Unification Church and Sun Myung Moon, then they say that the World Mission Society Church of God and Christ Ahnsahnghong must be the same since it started in South Korea.
In reality, there are absolutely no similarities in the teachings of the World Mission Society Church of God and the Unification Church. The Unification Church teaches principles that do not come from the Bible, as per their official website:
“Sun Myung Moon studied the Bible and many other religious teachings in order to unravel these mysteries of life and human history.”
The World Mission Society Church of God and the teachings of Christ Ahnsahnghong come strictly from the Bible and nothing else. The Unification Church keeps Sunday service, Christmas and all other teachings that do not come from the Bible. The World Mission Society Church of God keeps the Passover and the Sabbath of the New Covenant just as Jesus taught 2,000 years ago.
So instead of judging by standards of association with other religious groups, why don’t you try to understand Christ like the disciples did 2,000 years ago?
How did the disciples recognize Jesus 2,000 years ago?
John 4:41-42 – “And because of his words many more became believers. They said to the woman, ‘We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the savior of the world.’”
2,000 years ago, the first thing people considered was His teachings. It was because of His teachings that the people believed He was the savior of the world. What was the second thing they considered?
John 1:44-45 – “Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. Philip found Nathanael and told him, ‘We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote – Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.’”
The second thing the disciples considered was how Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies of the Old Testament. Then it was because of His teachings and the prophecies He fulfilled that the disciples were able to recognize Jesus Christ as the Savior.
In the same way, it is because of what He taught and the prophecies He fulfilled that I believe Christ Ahnsahnghong is the second coming of Christ – not because of what people say about Him or by how popular He is.
From my research, I can confidently say that there are no similarities between the Unification Church and the World Mission Society Church of God.

Whats amazing about this verse John 4:41-42 is that although they heard they checked it out with their own eyes. Likewise we should not assume guilt because of same country location but rather investigate the reason as to why that location and begin to eliminate falsehood.

I really liked this article because it sheds some needed light on this situation that is clearly just another case of stereotyping. People may believe this generalization that if it “quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, than it’s a duck” towards our church, but the fact is that this generalization does not apply to the World Mission Society Church of God because we do not practice, preach, teach, or let alone believe in anything the Unification Church does. We keep and practice all the teachings of the bible that Christ taught us such as the Passover of the New Covenant, Sabbath Day, and all the Feasts of God.

The accusations against Christ Ahnsahnghong and the WMSCOG are simply ludicrous . 2,000 years ago Jesus Christ , came to bring us salvation. He was considered a criminal , for having no fault -eating with prostitutes , tax payers etc. What is a criminal ? A person that is guilty or has committed a crime . I see no crime in Jesus. He kept his promise-granting us a chance to be redeemed of our sins. The political figures we have today , how many promises they talk of – but can never follow through with? So many ! It may be coincidental , that , 2nd Coming Christ and Sun myung moon are from the same country , but it does not mean , they have the same teachings . It’s like saying Evangelists RIck Warren and Joel Osteen having the same doctrines because there both American. Do you see how that doesn’t make any sense? Actually it’s not hard to get the WMSCOG confused with other churches. Why ? Because its simple. We follow the teachings of the bible. If you truly want to criticize someone , aim at all the people during the dark ages- furthermore . God set a time for us to receive a sign with god .. He has his feasts for us to celebrate . Do you know those feasts ? Are you aware of the sign between us and god? It’s because like a thief , who stole a family’s treasure , in the same way those misleading people , stole -changed the truth. This is why Christ had to come a second time. To restore what was stolen/ destroyed. We all know second coming Christ is to return, it doesn’t mean , we are gonna believe everyone who claims to be 2nd coming service. We proclaim Christ Ahnsahnghong as second coming Christ , because just like Jesus fulfilled his prophecies, in the same Christ Ahnsahnghong , fulfilled prophecies. We have the scriptures, not mans words . In understand it could be difficult , because the word of mouth is everywhere, but are they God’s words. Most critics of Christ Ahnsahnhong will attempt to use emotion to sway the opinions of others rather than use hard facts. Two thousand years ago the Pharisees swayed public opinion by twisting the words of Christ and making him appear as a crazy, dangerous, heretic. They also tried to invent false stories with false witnesses. Even though Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies for that time it was the emotions of the people that were being taken advantage of. The Pharisees wanted to make Jesus look as if he was altering the scripture; but in reality he was fulfilling Bible prophecy. The same thing is occurring today. Critics of the World Mission Society Church of God are playing on the fears and emotions of others rather than using solid facts in any of their criticisms. Every argument they make against the WMSCOG is quickly cut down with facts supported by the Bible. It is extremely easy to take things out of context, which is what certain critics have done. If we look at the teachings of Christ Ahnsahnghong and the prophecies he fulfilled then we will be able to see that he is the Savior of this age.

Have you ever heard the term “don’t judge a book by its cover”? we’ll then why do people judge God because he comes in the flesh and is assigned a grave with the wicked? Specially when it is already prophesied in the bible (Isaiah 53:9 “He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth.”). Christians try their best to follow the footsteps of Christ and to change the way they live imitating the way Christ lived because he is pure and holy. Moreover, Christians are also filled with compassion and even heart broken when they watch the move “Passion of the Christ” and think of the sacrifice Christ did to save us; the reason is because they know that he didn’t’ deserve crucifixion yet he died though he was innocent. However, 2,000 years ago it was hard to view Christ as an innocent man when he was being put to death and was rather labeled as a criminal because of the criminals crucified next to him. This was due to the fact that they were only looking a Jesus with their physical eyes and not the through the bible. Jesus was still Christ and the church he established 2,000 years ago was still the true church. In the same way Christ Ahnsahnghong is testified to be the second coming Jesus Christ and his church the World Mission Society Church of God is the true church Jesus established 2,000 years ago. Let’s be smarter and look at the second coming Christ Ahnsahnghong and his church the World Mission Society Church of God through the bible and not make the same mistake as 2,000 years ago and reject the Messiah due to associations.

Hello Ivan. Do you mean to say that this verse was about Ahnsahnghong and not Jesus? Can you explain how you reached that conclusion? Can you read all of Is 53 and see who is being described?

The same words Jesus spoke and taught 2000 years ago are the same Christ Ahnsahnghong spoke because He is really Second Coming Christ! I’m so lucky to know the teachings from the WMSCOG are straight from the Bible, 100% brought by God!

The only way we can find the truth about Christ is through the Scriptures and his teachings. Only until I’ve seen it for myself, have i realized how i can know who the savior is.
2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ said:
You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, (John 5:39 NIV) Also, when reading John chapter 6, Jesus had many followers through the miracles he made. But when it came time for Christ to teach about Eternal Life, everyone left EXCEPT the 12 (11) disciples who stayed because of his teaching. Christ, himself, said that this was truly a Gift from God to realize. We can see what the real gift from God is: Understanding, following, and relying in Father and Mother’s word. -
When it comes to our salvation their really isn’t any space or safety in hasty generalizations. Since the scriptures say that Christ will come from the east (Rev.7:2 and Isaiah 46:11 and many more)and we say that Christ cannot come from Korea we risk missing the savior. It makes sense that many false will come from the very place that prophecy say that the true Christ would come from. Satan will continue to attempt to stop the move of God but what God set out to accomplish will be done (Isaiah 55:11). An individual that desires to recognize Christ should study the prophecies that speaks of him then we can recognize him just as the apostles (john 1:44)

Let us examine the verses you quoted.
Rev 7:2 speaks about an angel from the east. Later in the same chapter, in verse 17 to be precise, it speaks about another entity being the lamb. So obviously the angel in verse 2 is not the lamb.
Is 46:11 is about King Cyrus of Persia who ended the Assyrian reign and later freed the Jews

Many Christians today say with their lips that Jesus is their Lord and savior but fail to receive Jesus who returned to this earth as Christ Ahnsahnghong. They treat Christ Ahnsahnghong in the same way Jesus was treated 2,000 years ago, as a criminal because of guilt by association. I hope that this article can be used to change the minds of unbelievers and lead them to their true savior Christ Ahnsahnghong and the true church World Mission Society Church of God.

2,000 years ago the disciples received much persecution because they believed in Jesus name. 1.1 mil people lived in Israel however only the12 disciples believed in Jesus. The 12 disciples held onto to their faith because they understood that only Jesus name gave them salvation. It is the same now, people say Christ Ahnsahnghong is guilty by association. They associate Christ Ahnsahnghong with churches that do not follow the bible. How can we compare the true teachings of God to falsehood? I hold on to my faith in Christ Ahnsahnghong because the words that he speaks are true. He taught us about the Sabbath, Passover and the Feast of God. Although people may say negative things about Christ Ahnsahnghong I know that only his name gives me salvation.

This article was very informative because one can see how fallacies and hasty generalization not only affect the validity of a statement but also the categorization of people and objects. In Matthew 22:29 Jesus told the religious leaders of that time “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. The people of that time did not believe in the scriptures and called Jesus a criminal as he was put alongside of the other two criminals. Instead of making hasty generalization which should testify to what we see and hear. This is why Christ Ahnsahnghong is the second Christ because the scriptures testify about him. I earnestly encourage those who have questions about the bible to come to the World Mission society Church of God to understand the prophecies of the bible.

Every single teachings of Church of God is in the Bible.It shows that people who spread this false rumor, have no idea about the teachings of the World Mission Society Church of God.
How sad are those people who believe in false rumors and never got to receive salvation and the true teachings of God because of some ignorant and deceitful people who doesn’t care about anyone’s salvation.
If you believe in the words of the Christ and bible, you have no problem believing in the teachings of World Mission Society Church of God and Christ Ahnsahnghong.

This article makes a perfect point! How did the disciples come to Christ 2000 years ago? What drove them to believe in a man who was branded by the ‘religious leaders’ as one who “drives out demons by the prince of demons”? Christ was accused of working with demons at that time by ‘credible sources’,the Pharisees, and yet the disciples came to Christ and were faithful to him even to the point of death. But why? Truly, it is because of the teachings of Christ. Christ’s words lead to eternal life and the disciples were blessed to see this fact. John 6:68- Simon Peter answered him, “Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” It is because Christ words give eternal life- life to the soul. He fulfilled bible prophecy, everything the Scriptures said that the savior will do, Christ fulfilled. Then, in these times it should be the same. The bible says for sure that Christ will come for a second time, but how can we recognize? Clearly, it is not by listening to experts that brand Christ and His church as something false. The only way to know is to see if Christ fulfills bible prophecy and teaches words that lead to eternal life. Christ Ahnsahnghong truly is Christ because he gave the words that lead to eternal life, not just a good life on this temporary earth. He also fulfilled bible prophecies, thats why members of the Church of God follow Christ Ahnsahnghong faithfully.

This concept of “Guilty by Association,” is something many people learn even from a young age. Even parents teach their children to be careful who their friends are. Why is this? Because as adults they know that if their child befriend’s a troublemaker or bully then their child too will be associated to be a troublemaker or bully even if he/she is not.
Then this is the case with the World Mission Society Church of God; which has become guilty by association under the mere fact that it was founded in South Korea. Rather than getting to know the WMSCOG for one’s self, many people fall victum to assuming that it is no different than the Unification Church, because it too was founded in South Korea. However, when studying the Bible, which is the “lense” through which we should always judge between right and wrong – good and evil, it is clear that the World Mission Society Church of God is the only church that follows the example of Christ and keeps all His commandments.
It is so amazing that God, as our loving parents, put an example in the scriptures for everything that is happening now. As it says in Romans 15:4 “Everything that was written in the past was written to teach us…” and then also in Ecclesiastes 1:9 “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” Through the past we can learn to discern what is the correct way to follow. I hope that you will discern correctly by coming to the World Mission Society and studying through the Bible about Christ Ahnsahnghong and our Mother New Jerusalem.
