Christ Ahnsahnghong was NOT Buddhist!

Although there are many rumors out there that claim Christ Ahnsahnghong was Buddhist, this is a false rumor that has no evidence. Click and see for yourself

Christ Ahnsahnghong was not Buddhist for 30 years!

I don’t know how many times I’ve had to explain to people that Christ Ahnsahnghong was not Buddhist.  Seriously! There are so many websites and individuals out there saying that Christ Ahnsahnghong was either Buddhist or that He was born to Buddhist parents.

Let me ask a simple question: Can you give any evidence that Christ Ahnsahnghong and/or His parents were Buddhist?

… (Cricket sound) …

I guess the answer is no. There is no evidence whatsoever. The only source they point to is Christ Ahnsahnghong’s Wikipedia entry. (By the way, Wikipedia is not the most reliable source of information, especially about Christ Ahnsahnghong. You will see why through the following example.)

Next to the words, “Ahn was born to Buddhist parents,” you see a footnote with the letter “e.” When you scroll down to the footnote, you can see the source actually being cited:

The only evidence to support the false argument that Christ Ahnsahnghong was Buddhist and/or born to Buddhist parents is that Buddhism was the predominant religion in Korea by 1918. Are you serious? Can this really be the evidence to support their claim? Not only is their history about Christ Ahnsahnghong incorrect, but also their history about Korea is incomplete.

Confucianism, Buddhism and Korea.

In fact, the Cho sun Dynasty, which ruled Korea from 1392 AD to 1910 AD, held a policy to oppress Buddhism. During this period, temples could not be built near towns; they had to be constructed in the mountains. Many temples were torn down. Monks were looked down on and, for some years, they were not permitted to enter the capital city.

This policy of suppression of Buddhism was called: “崇儒抑佛策” which translates to “Confucian policy to suppress Buddhism.” This lets us see that their depiction of Korean history is inaccurate, and it is only skewed this way to support their false claims about Christ Ahnsahnghong.

Christ Ahnsahnghong had to be Buddhist because Korea was Buddhist.

If they argue that Christ Ahnsahnghong and/or His parents were Buddhist because of the fact that Christ Ahnsahnghong was born in 1918 and by that time the whole Korean peninsula was Buddhist, then they must also say that Jesus and His parents were sun god worshipers.

In the Bible, it is written that Jesus and His parents fled to Egypt because of the persecution coming from King Herod.

Matthew 2:13-15 – When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “Take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.” So he got up, took the child during the night and left for Egypt, where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I called my son.”

During the time that Jesus fled to Egypt, what was the predominant religion in Egypt? It was the worship of the sun god, Rah. Then because of this, can we say that Jesus and His parents believed and worshiped the sun god since they were living in Egypt? Of course not! Through this we can see how groundless and absurd their  argument about Christ Ahnsahnghong is.

Christ Ahnsahnghong and the prophecy about Melchizedek

It is prophesied that Second Coming Christ is to be born to parents who do not believe in God. In order fulfill the prophecy about Melchizedek, Christ Ahnsahnghong was born to a family of non-believers. Then, does the fact that Christ Ahnsahnghong was born to a family of non-believers imply that Christ Ahnsahnghong and His parents believed in Buddhism? We should not be deceived by such man-made stories.

People who speak against Christ Ahnsahnghong and the World Mission Society Church of God have no interest in the truth; they merely try to bring the way of truth into dispute. The Bible already warned us about such people:

2 Peter 2:1-3 – But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.

We should only rely on the Bible and the testimony of those who actually walked with Christ Ahnsahnghong, rather than such unidentified man-made stories. Since the Bible testifies about Christ, we ought to seek and receive the Savior through the Bible.

Christ Ahnsahnghong is the Second Coming Christ who fulfilled all the prophecies of the Bible. The World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) believes in Christ Ahnsahnghong as the Savior in this age on the basis of the testimony coming from the Bible.

This post is really helpful. I have a friend that said the same and I now wonder if he based his false accusation upon this false Wikipedia entry.

It is amazing how much you can learn by checking sources. It is like a teacher checking a research paper for reliable sources to properly grade. God is our Teacher as the Bible says and He is surely going to check our sources that we base our beliefs and faith, whether true or false.

Most people are quick to judge and are very visual. Hence, the first thing they see they believe. In this case, they seek faults in order to not realize the truth and take the opportunity to follow God.

God has come and left us much proof in the Bible in advance so we would believe. I am sooooooo thankful to know Ahnsahnghong and I believe in Him 144000% because of the fulfillment of prophecy, such as Second Coming Christ fully fulfilling the Order of Melchizedek.

Take the time to learn the prophecies and carefully verify their fulfillment to see how truly blessed we are to be witnesses in this age of fulfillment.

The reason why they say these things is because they don’t belong to God so of course they don’t hear what God says so they cannot understand the prophecy of Melchizedek. Melchizedek had no genealogy, Jesus did BUT He blessed in the way of bread and wine by making the New Covenant so He didn’t completely fulfill the prophecy. Christ Ahnsahnghong was born to non Jewish parents thus fulfilling the no genealogy part of the prophecy AND He brought back the New Covenant Passover that was established in Mark’s upper room and destroyed Constantine and the Catholic Church. We who are the remnant to be saved are the only ones who can understand this by the grace of God. I give thanjs to Christ Ahnsahnghong for giving all my brothers and sisters and myself His seal of approval so that we can understand all the prophecies of the Bible.

  3. KL

Didn’t Christ AhnSahnHong have to be Buddhist in order to fulfill the prophecy of Melchizedek? My Zion officially teaches that He was born a Buddhist. I’m kind of confused…

    • The True WMSCOG

That’s not correct. Christ Ahnsahnghong had to be born from a family of unbelievers, not from a family of Buddhist. its possible that there could be a misunderstanding, but the truth of the matter is that Christ Ahnsahnghong was not Buddhist.

      • KL

So how did he fulfill Melchizedek if he was not Buddhist? Was he under Hinduism or athesim? How was Melchizedek fulfilled?

        • The True WMSCOG

I don’t think the prophecy of Melchizedek says he has to be born from a particular religion, all the Bible says is that it must be from an unbelieving family. However, the most important part of the prophecy is that he brought us the bread and wine of the Passover, just like Melchizedek did. No one else has restored the truth of the New covenant Passover, except Christ Ahnsahnghong; and that’s why He is Melchizedek.

  4. Kailin

Thankfully we have Bible prophecies in order to base our faith. Christ Ahnsahnghong fulfilled Bible prophecy, even being born to unbelieving parents. He truly is the one the Bible has been speaking of all of this time!

Awesome! That’s the only word I can use after reading any of the articles here. I loved the part about Egypt and how ridiculous it was to say because Jesus lived there for a little while we would have to assume he worshipped Rah. How can God worship a god, little g#falsegod. People always make over generalizations so I appreciate the clarification. World Mission Society Church of God is awesome. No other church backs up their belief with scripture and explanation as clear and truthfully as we do. I wonder what it would take for people to reflect on their own doctrines to see if they are biblically rather than over analyzing ours. Food for thought!

  6. Laura B

I am very thankful for this article and comments. It is true, we can not presume that Christ Ahnsahnghong had to be a practicing buddhist because he was born at that time in Korea. I had not thought this through in-depth before but it makes sense. The country of Korea had to be any religion other than that of the bible but we can not then assume that everyone in that nation was a practicing Buddhist. For example, that is like labeling every single person born in Ireland, UK as either a practicing catholic or protestant as those are the two main doctrines there… this is incorrect but I have heard it many times! However many people have stereotyped everyone in that country to be either one or the other…
The truth of our savior Christ Ahnsahnghong is perfect and trustworthy. Thanks to Elohim God for clarifying this for me 🙂

  7. Quinn

Saying Christ Ahnsahnghong was a Buddhist is a stereotypical assumption. Assuming something is true without any proof is a foolish decision that will almost always lead to problems. If we act the same way in regards to our salvation, how can we expect to enter the Kingdom of Heaven? Let’s believe the prophecies which are proven, rather than delirious thoughts of men.

  8. Jordan

This article was seriously awesome. I have never been to a church that can prove why they believe what they believe, and I’ve been to many. I was always confused and had so many questions that were constantly brushed aside. God left us Bible prophecy so we could actually have faith, not just say we have faith.

I feel so revived to have studied and understand about Second Coming Christ. Now the Bible finally makes sense and I have a beautiful connection to God. Can’t wait to read more!

  9. Nikki

It’s so important that our faith is based on the word of God. When our faith is based on God’s words we will have strong faith with a strong foundation. If we believe in God’s words, then we will be able to distinguish truth from falsehood.

The point that you made is key to the truth about Christ Ahnsahnghong. Jesus Christ and his whole family fled to the land of Egypt, but that doesn’t mean that they were sun-god worshipers.

We can only come to recognize God who comes in the flesh through the words of God. If we focus on the the world, and the thoughts of people, then we will not be able to recognize Him.

With this said, please come join a Bible study and see through the Bible that Christ Ahnsahnghong is the one who fulfills all biblical prophecies.

  10. Cece

It’s amazing that Father and Mother came from Korea, since Korea in past times were never predominantly Christian. Historically there was no dominant religion at that time, and I do remember reading that during the war against Japan, Japan tried to enforce their own religion on the Korean people at that time. Despite Satan’s great effort to stop Father, Father still preached a pure 100% Christian gospel that not only shook the entire Eastern World, but has dominated the globe since.

Not sure how a devout Buddhist, from a Buddhist family can suddenly pick up a Bible and change the entire face of Christianity – without having EVER left South Korea.

Oh wait I do know – because He’s God.

  11. I challenge the people who say this to come study at World Mission Society Church of God the studies in their entirety. Come, we’re ready to teach anytime. This argument is like this verse from John: The man answered, “Now that is remarkable! You don’t know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes. We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does his will. John 9:30‭-‬31 Niv. Is it God’s will to mix Christianity with other religions? No. If Christ Ahnsahnghong was buddhist he couldn’t have fulfilled the prophecies, he would’ve been considered an idolater and God (whom He is) would’ve blocked the way. No idolater can bring eternal life but He did. The New Covenant Passover, Sabbath, the Feasts of God and Heavenly Mother are all truths Christ Ahnsahnghong revealed and taught in their entirety. Their argument is illogical and easy to understand as false if only you study the whole of prophecy. Thanks to Father and Mother for truth.

  12. Curtis T

Seeing as how they have no way of clearly denying that Ahnsahnghong is the 2nd coming Christ who fulfilled prophecy, they have to focus on things that don’t matter. When you think about Apostle James, he was Jesus’ physical brother but when you read the book he wrote, you would have a hard time determining that they were family. Thats because none of thosw things effected the salvation that Christ brought 2000 years ago. For this reason, James never wrote about their physical life. It’s so sad that precious time has to be spent refuting ignorant claims as this one.

  13. Denisse C.

Thank you for the clarification. Back then, I usually hear that Christ Ahnsahnghong was born from Buddhist parents. But this article made me fully realize that it wasn’t ^^. I am so glad I took the time to read this and be corrected. 🙂

  14. Chanel

The rumors get more and more rediculous. because Jesus Christ would have been a sun god worshiper since he was born in Egypt? Or according to current critics logic, that’s how they’d see it if they lived 2,000 years ago.

  15. James Heo

Jesus said even though you do not believe in me, but believe th work I am doing for my Father. He was so distressed because of people who rejected him, looking at his physical appearance. He was teaching them to look at the works he was doing to fulfill the prophecies of the bible. The only way for us to know who Christ Ahnsahnghong is through his works he had fulfilled during his life time. His works clearly tell us that he is the one who was to come. We should not look at his physicality, but rather fulfillment of the prophecies of the bible.
