The “Us” in Genesis, Female Image of God or the Trinity?

Have You Ever Heard About the Female Image of God in the Bible?

In the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) we believe the Bible testifies about the existence of the male image of God and the female image of God. The majority of people, especially Christians, do not know that in the Bible you can find evidence to this. You don’t have to go that far into the Bible, in the first chapter of Genesis you begin to see the plurality of God.

Genesis 1:26-27 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

When God creates mankind, God does not say, “Let there be man.” Instead, God says, “Let us make man, in our image.” Every other act of creation had been a singular act—a simple word was spoken and the act was carried out. Then why did God use the word “Us” to refer to Himself? This passage has been a mystery for those who study the Bible. However, the answer to this puzzle is a lot simpler than what you think.

The fact that two images (one male and one female) were made in the image of God, lets us understand that the image of God has to be both male and female. This is evidence to the fact that there exists the male image of God, which we call God the Father, and the female image of God; God the Mother.

The “Us” in Genesis Refers to the Holy Trinity

The us in Genesis Refers to the Trinity, not God the Mother

In regards to Genesis 1:26 and the usage of the word “us,” many in the Christian community believe this is about the Holy Trinity and not the female image of God. Christians believe that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit were the ones who said: “Let us make man in our image.” They believe that it was the Holy Trinity the one who made mankind in their image. However, there are several reasons why this belief is incorrect and not according to the testimonies of the Bible.

The Trinity Is Not Plural

Saying that the “Us,” in Genesis is referring to the Trinity comes from a lack of understanding about the Trinity. What does the word “Trinity” mean? It means that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are one God. Trinity is the unity of three or in other words, that three are one.

God the Father and God the Son are the same one, God. In the Old Testament, God the Father Jehovah prophesied that He would come to the earth in the flesh. He would be born as child, specifically a son.

Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace … The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

In the time of Isaiah, God the Father said that in the future, a child, a son would be born with the title of Mighty God. Through this, God the Father Jehovah was letting us know that He would come in the role of the Son to this earth.

Jesus Christ is God the Father Jehovah who was born on this earth in the flesh.

Philippians 2:5-7 NLT You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God … Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being.

Jesus Christ is God the Father who came to the earth as a human being in the role of a son. And there are many more verses in the Bible and prophecies to prove this.

Jesus Christ the Son is also the Holy Spirit.

John 14:26 But the Father sends the Advocate as my representative – that is, the Holy Spirit – he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.

1 John 2:1 … But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.

The Advocate – the Holy Spirit – is Jesus Christ.

Again, there are many more prophecies in the Bible that prove God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are one and the same God. Because they are one and the same, they are one. In other words, they are not plural and cannot be what the “us” in Genesis refers to. No matter what angle we look at it from, the “us” in Genesis is not the trinity. The “us” in Genesis refers to God the Father and God the Mother. That is why two images came out reflecting the image of god – male and female.

If The “Us” in Genesis Is the Trinity, Then Where Did the Female Image Come From?

In addition to the explanation above, if God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit were the “Us” in Genesis, there are still some questions to be answered. First, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are all male images of God. How do you explain the fact that a female was made in the image of God? Which one of the three is the female image from which Eve was made? This is a clear example of why the “Us” in Genesis is not about the Trinity.

Second, if God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit had made man in their image, then that would mean that three different images should have appeared? But, why were there only two made; male and female? If we try to interpret the “us” in Genesis by using the Holy Trinity, then several questions would remain unanswered.

Genesis 1:26 Is Clearly About God the Father and God the Mother

The fact that male and female were the result of God creating man after His own image, is enough evidence to understand that God has a male and female image. The male image of God we call, God the Father. The female image of God we call, God the Mother.

God the Father and God the Mother who said: “Let us make man in our image…” in Genesis, appear in the book of Revelation as the Spirit and the Bride.

Revelation 22:17 (NLT) The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” Let anyone who hears this say, “Come.” Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life.

God the Father and God the Mother gave life to human beings in the history of Genesis. In the same way, the Bible prophesied that the Holy Spirit and the Bride, God the Father and God the Mother, would appear to give spiritual life to all mankind by providing the water of life.

God the Mother is it really in the Bible

Very good article to explain about the “Us” in Genesis! Definitely, the “Us” refers to God the Father as well as God the Mother. It does not make sense to say is the trinity since the trinity means one God. Truly give thanks to Father and Mother for blessing us with so much water of life even through this article alone ^^

The explanation is more than clear. It’s amazing how one incorrect interpretation can be corrected with so much evidence. I plan to show this video to many people!

Everything is crystal clear thanks to the Grace of Father and Mother. Thinking too much only results in adding and taking away from God’s word which are necessary for the Salvation of our Souls. Everything on this earth is a copy and shadow and not the reality. Truly, give thanks to Elohim for giving us their wisdom that proceeds even the wisest person.

Hi. What version of the bible is referenced here? The explanation of Holy Trinity is so clear especially Philippians2:5. I hope through this article people can understand Trinity more clearly because it’s very vague in most churches. AND also understand more clearly about the other aspect of God – God’s female image. Thanks for posting.

It amazes me, and will never cease to, how clear it is that God is male and female, Father and Mother. I imagine if we would have always known that growing up and someone came along and tried to explain that the “Us” in Genesis means the trinity – how confusing that would sound! Great video to share.

Thanks so much , this the most clear explanation about the “us ” and “our ” in Genesis I’ve ever heard . It makes perfect sense .

  7. Victoria

What an astonishing explanation!!! There are two Gods, not only Father but also Mother!! It is on the contrary to the Christian doctrines but makes sense!! Why not God the Mother?? According to the above explanation based on the Bible, I cannot help but to believe in Her. I think I have to study more in detail.

The explanation of “us” was so very obvious to me when I came to study it for the first time at Church of God / and not only to me but also clear to millions of others – because of how obvious it was there was no way for me to see how it could’ve ever been explained as male only. Anybody who denies God’s female image also denies God’s very own creation work and therefore denies one’s own existence especially if created as a female on this earth.

  9. Sarah

Absolutely there exist not only God the Father but also God the Mother. The whole contents of the Bible testify this impotant truth.

  10. “Male and female, he created them.” When I first realized the true meaning of this sentence while listening to a sermon during a Sabbath, my whole being trembled with indescribable excitement for the realization. This is amazing to hear all the time.

Every time I read Genesis 1:26-27 Im very surprised and amazed because God hid the truth about God the Mother in the first page of the bible lol. Reading reading verse 27 is clear that is not talking about the trinity because God didn’t create humans to be 3, but God made humans in 2 genders male and female according to Their image, plus the trinity are all males. Father is male Son is male Holy Spirit is male, so the US in genesis 1:26-27 is definitely Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother. =)

Wow this article is so clear it’s so true the “us” in genesis clearly is referring to God as both male and female. Even the answer is in the next verse Genesis 1:27 God’s image is male and female. If it were the trinity it would just be males in the world but clearly we cannot deny God’s creation it’s clearly what we see there are only male and female in this world. Even in a family system just as God is referred to as father and we are the children of God there has to be mother without a mother there could be no father knor children. So to see we have also a heavenly mother it makes so much sense.Thank you Father and Mother
